The Flying in the Wire Environment (FITWE) Course provides information and suggested procedures for pilots, non-pilot flightcrew members, supplementary or ground crew members, and passengers conducting flight operations in the low-level environment. This course is offered via video conference or can be presented in-classroom (provided by the requesting party). This course is taught by commercial helicopter pilots with greater than 5,000 hours with actual helicopter flight experience in Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA), Utility Patrol & Construction, Firefighting, and Oil & Gas.
If you are involved in low-level flight operations including Search & Rescue (SAR), Helicopter Air Ambulance, Powerline Inspection and Patrols, Airborne Law Enforcement, Firefighting, External Load, Agriculture, or Aerial Survey, this course is for you! Thes flight profiles associated with the types of operations above expose flight crews and passengers to the danger of ground and airborne based obstacles that can result in fatalities This increased awareness should be a part of every flight risk mitigation plan.

The purpose of this course is to provide the aviation user with a foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities, to safely utilize aircraft to accomplish flights safely and reliably. Topics include pre-flight preparation and planning, pilot and aircraft briefings, operational safety, ingress and egress, Landing zone considerations, in-flight obstructions, aviation verbage and acronyms, callouts and responsibilities, sterile cockit, and Unmanned Aviation Systems (UAS).
This course is great for first time fliers, cremembers, or experienced pilots. We can tailor a solution for you.
